Scope and Contents Ten of these items are letters, two of them addressed to his wife, Rachel. Other letters are mostly concerned with military matters, one addressed to James Calhoun who was at the time Secretary of War. Jackson writes to Gov. William Schley of Georgia informing him that "Jessup has not delivered the Creek prisoners to the State of Georgia." Andrew Johnson, President of the United States, grants full pardon and amnesty to William D. Bently, Forsyth County, Georgia, for taking part in the rebellion against the government of the United States at the time of the Civil War. The document is dated May 29, 1865. The document is signed by both Johnson and William H. Seward, Secretary of State.

This artificial collection has been compiled from a number of acquisitions and included handwritten and typed manuscripts of novels, novellas and short stories. Also diaries, notebooks, photographs, personal memorabilia and correspondence with theater critic Raymond B. Marriott, George Bullock, Rhys Davies and letters, notes and drawings from K. T. Bluth to Kavan. Kavan's artwork, predominantly water color but including oil, pen and ink, and goache.

Collection consists of photocopy typescripts of "Heavy Jars," (1975), a collection of poems inscribed to Ted Berrigan and Alice Notley and "Push of Joy," (1973), with cover sheet signed by Ted Berrigan and Alice Notley. Also included is a signed typescript draft translation from the German by Anselm and Josephine Clare Hollo of "Birthday," ([1974]) by Peter Altenberg, which is also inscribed to Ted Berrigan.
